Geek For E!

Countdown to the Oscars – our picks for Makeup

The 84th showing of the Academy Awards will air on ABC on Sunday the 26th of February and we at Geek for E have decided to join in on the fun and give you our predictions of who will win.

Today we are going to look at Makeup. The Makeup category is a tough one to choose as all movies utilize makeup. It’s how they utilize the makeup on the actors that gets them nominated. From alien markings to making the young look old and the old look young, Makeup is an important part of any story.
And with that…the nominations go to…
MAKEUP … the nominations go to:
“Albert Nobbs”
“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two”
“The Iron Lady”

Denise: I’m a true Potterphile, but with Academy Award-Winner Matthew W. Mungle nominated for Albert Nobbs, this could be the guy to beat.  Then again, Mungle won for monster makeup (Bram Stoker’s Dracula), so perhaps Harry Potter could pull off a win here.

Matthew: What Denise said.

Tatiana: I’ll be the odd man out and go with The Iron Lady.

Rock: I watched a behind the scenes featurette for Albert Nobb’s and I gotta say that’s your winner.  Is it REALLY a stretch to get Meryl Streep (amazing actress) to look like Margaret Thatcher?  Glenn Close takes Nobb’s features to new heights with her onscreen performance, the makeup was so hugely a part of that.

Alex: Just gonna throw it out there and say Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two due to the sheer amounts of work needed for the characters and the story.
Score card…
Denise – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two
Matthew – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two
Tatiana – The Iron Lady
Rock – Albert Nobb’s
Alex – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two
