Movie Screening: Fifty Shades Of Gray (WED 02.11.15 – 7:30PM)

Have you been waiting for this one?  You know we at Geek for e have!  Will they give the book justice, how close is their ‘R’ take on the sexuality.  Is the bondage scene I read going to play out on screen as thematically as it did in my head when I was reading it?  So many questions.  We’re so very fortunate the studios have invited us, and now we’re inviting you.  15 of you.  That’s right a mere 15 winners this time (and that whole thing about getting there early?  this is one time you don’t want to mess with that!).  No code, just your best Christian or Anastasia (or both).  Details below the synopsis geeky faithful.

Can it deliver? Man, we sure hope so.

ROE Promo: The Loft (2015) – 4 Pairs Of Tix

ROE – What the heck is that?  It means ‘run of engagement’ which means if you win, you can take the ticket we give you to any participating theater (AMC Baltimore Cinemas in this case) and they will exchange your pass for (2) actual tickets to the movie.  Is there a catch?  Of course there is: you can only use the passes Monday through Thursday (no weekends, sorry!)  Also, run of engagement means just that – when the film leaves the chains theaters, the promo is no longer active.

So how do you get one of these 4 magic ROE tickets we have?  Very simply – solve the mathematical riddle below the movie details and post your response on our Facebook page under the post that brought you here.  We’ll pick 4 winners at random (so it wont matter if you cheat to get the answer).  Winners will be chosen and notified by SUN 02.01.15.  Your bar-coded ticket will be emailed to you (assuming we can Facebook message you – which YOU need to make sure is turned on for us).  Now on to the details of this killer new thriller!

Fine Print: (Contest submissions will be accepted til FRI 01.16.15)

1) Not sure why we keep needing to repeat this, but this is the last time.  If we cannot message you on Facebook, we can’t alert you to winning.  You must open that security and we are not Facebook Admins to show you how.

2) No substitutions.  We are not a hostess at the local theater.  If you win and choose not to go, we understand.  You aren’t hurting our feelings, nor will we desperately seek to fill your spot.  We also won’t swap your name for a buddy because you can’t make it.  Don’t ask, it won’t be answered.

3) Your RSVP listing does not guarantee your seat.  Arrive early.  When the theater is full, it is full.  (and with J-Lo showing it all…we’re guessing this one will be full!)

Movie Screening: Unbroken (2014) – Where’s Geek For E?

Academy Award® winner Angelina Jolie directs and produces UNBROKEN, an epic drama that follows the incredible life of olympian and war hero Louis “Louie” Zamperini (Jack O’Connell) who, along with two other crewmen, survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII – only to be caught by the Japanese navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.

Adapted from Laura Hillenbrand’s (“Seabiscuit: An American Legend”) enormously popular book UNBROKEN brings to the big screen Zamperini’s unbelievable and inspiring true story about the resilient power of the human spirit.

Starring alongside O’Connell are Domhnall Gleeson and Finn Wittrock as Phil and Mac – the airmen with whom Zamperini endured perilous weeks adrift in the open Pacific – Garrett Hedlund and John Magaro as fellow POWs who find an unexpected camaraderie during their internment, Alex Russell as Zamperini’s brother, Pete, and in his English-language feature debut, Japanese actor Miyavi as the brutal camp guard known only to the men as “The Bird.”

I remember playing with a Ouija board once…just once.  It wasn’t a dark room, it wasn’t even night time (I’m no dummy!), and the second the group of hands started moving around the board, I stood up and left.  Fast forward to today and our friends at Universal Pictures have rebooted the concept into a new game of horror for a group of teens.  Want tickets for the Baltimore screening?  Follow the Ouija banner for the details…
