Comic Review: Batman #1 (2011)

Who isn’t a fan of Batman? The ever popular comic book hero, the man behind the mask.

Who doesn’t like to see a bit of a darker side (see The Dark Knight) to Batman? I know I do, give me some bain and knocking heads in the dark side streets of Gotham.

DC Comics have released a new storyline for you Batman freaks out there and even for the newbies. I picked up the new comic via the DC Comics app on my iPad2. I must admit I am loving it!

What I liked:

The Story itself is a solid one, one that throws you right into the action that comes with Gotham. The menacing villains of Arkham along with the clown faced Joker, what more could you want.

The art has a gritty look to it that reveals a bit more about how dark Gotham’s back streets really are. How deep Batman has to plunge to get the dirt cleaned up in his beloved city.

What I didn’t like:

The Cost. At 2.99 for a digital comic book on my iPad 2 it really can add up if you collect a ton of comic books. While this is the retail cost for the comic book, I disagree with Marvel and DC on this assumption that this pricing point is a solid business model.

I would recommend the book to anyone who loves a solid read, fantastic art and a guy dressed as a bat! If you have the 2.99 it’s worth it my eyes.

It is already setup to notify me of the next comic on the iPad. Stay tuned for more comic book reviews as I plunge back into my childhood!

  1. I found your site through the artwork that you commissioned Wes Molebash to draw for you. I like your site and will be checking it out regularly. I hope that you will consider writing more about the comics that you are reading! I am very interested in the new DCnu 52 comics, although I am not currently buying them, and its great to see that you have a small review here. I would be interested to see what you have to say about the other books that are coming out! Keep up the good work.

    • Thanks for swinging by Claude, appreciate the kind words. I am trying to get a few connections out there to send us a few comics as they honestly are super expensive these days!!

      Stay tuned
