John Cusack gets star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Seems that the opening weekend of a much talked-about new movie isn’t the only thing John Cusack is celebrating this week.  Yesterday, Cusack celebrated a bit of immortality by getting his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  It’s the 2,469th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, for those of you keeping count.

Can’t help but wonder if he hefted a boombox during the ceremony….

This honor coincides with the release of The Raven, the newest film in Cusack’s list of achievements.  Sister Joan Cusack called him “…part It’s a Wonderful Life, part Doctor Strangelove, part Charlie Brown’s Christmas.”  I really like the mashup of those films I’ve got playing in my head.

And what did the famously self-deprecating star have to say about all this?  According to Reuters:

“To the best of my knowledge, I’ve tried to screw my career up as much as I possibly could, but even with all my best efforts to screw it up, I managed to have lasting friendships, and some of the best friends I’ve ever met in the business.”

Congratulations to a truly deserving actor whose talents we’ve all enjoyed for years.  I’d say decades, but that’d just make me feel old.

Bravo!
